At Grassroots Response to the Ukrainian Crisis, we are excited to announce a new partnership with A Few Good Lads, a company dedicated to connecting skilled workers with top employers in the construction industry across Canada! This collaboration will create employment opportunities for displaced Ukrainians and refugee claimants, helping them gain valuable Canadian work experience and build a stable future.
Connecting Newcomers with Construction Jobs
This partnership focuses on recruiting Ukrainian newcomers and refugee claimants across Canada who are interested in working in the construction industry. A Few Good Lads specializes in outsourcing skilled labour to various companies, intending to transition workers into long-term employment.
The first job available through this initiative is a carpentry-based construction project in Calgary, but future placements may be in Ontario, British Columbia, or other locations. A Few Good Lads will hire candidates and place them in construction roles.
A Few Good Lads will conduct all interviews and job placements, ensuring a smooth hiring process with translator support available. Their team will also provide guidance on relocation to job sites and connect newcomers with real estate agents for housing assistance.
Supporting Newcomers in Their Employment Journey
While this program is focused on employment, Grassroots Response will also work to identify local resources in each job location. We will contact settlement agencies, churches, and community groups to compile a list of available support services, ensuring that newcomers have access to additional assistance in their new communities.
A Few Good Lads will assist by:
✅ Providing advice on relocation to job sites
✅ Connecting workers with real estate agents for housing assistance
✅ Providing access to airport transfer discounts
✅ Offering health and dental benefits
✅ Providing discounts on Rogers phone plans and workwear at Mark’s Warehouse
